Lisa & Steve

Lisa and Steve tied the knot on the 1st May 2022 at the Saint Abdisho Assyrian Churst of the East Cathedral and Meadowbank Estate, a pristine estate with perfumed gardens and heritage listed trees, such a perfect spot for a wedding.

We love hearing the proposal story and this one is so thoughtful we just fell in love with the detail. Lisa tells us, “Steve attempted to propose three different times, but Covid got in the way. He felt a lot of pressure as it was ten years into our relationship.” Lisa continues, “He booked a place in Halls Gap and the first morning we got up at 5am and watched the sunrise together, and it was really beautiful. I got all teary, I was expecting the proposal to happen; but nothing.”

That evening Lisa and Steve made a fire and had a special night together. Lisa tells us, “Steve asked if we could sit down and he started explaining his plans to propose. In the 10 years that we had been together, throughout everything we had been through, we always got through it all, by sitting and talking.” That is exactly what they did. Steve pulled out of his jacket the most beautiful speech and Lisa, who was anticipating the moment also had a speech ready as she wanted Steve to have something to take away from their trip too. And with that Steve said to Lisa, “Will you make me the happiest man in the world, will you marry me?”

We also love this detail that Lisa adds, “Steve said the online world means more to him than the legal marriage certificate so he coded his own personal contract that he upload to the internet, which I had to sign.” Lisa continues “It’s now permanently on the internet.” The very last and most romantic element is that Steve had paid someone to upload a photo of themselves and the link to the contract which was going to be taken to the moon and dropped there forever.” How romantic is that special touch!

The wedding day was such a special day for both Lisa and Steve and they were so happy to be able to share the day with their large ensemble of family and friends. Lisa tells us, “Our day was beyond anything we ever imagined. We had quite a big wedding with a big guest list, but we were overwhelmed with how intimate and full of love, the day felt. I don’t think I ever stopped smiling. After 11 years together, it really was the most magical day and well worth the wait.”

Belle et Blanc bride ‘Lisa’ came into our bridal store and picked out the stunning ‘Carly’ sheath wedding dress, which she helped customise together with our Belle et Blanc consultants Anna and Sue. Lisa tells us, “I remember being impressed with the dresses in the window at Belle et Blanc, I was pleasantly greeted by Anna and Sue who made me feel so special.” Lisa continues, “ I could not stop smiling when I first put the dress on and I felt really beautiful. It was so close to perfect and every time I would say, “It’s almost perfect, but if this was different,” Anna and Sue would say, “We can do that!”  Lisa adds, “Together we created the dress of my dreams.”

We are so thankful to Lisa and Steve, and feel so honoured Lisa picked Belle et Blanc to be part of their day, and we absolutely love the photographs.
