An Intimate Newcastle Harbour Wedding

Sophie & Brett’s Day to Remember
 Sophie and Brett’s wedding was located on Newcastle’s picturesque Harbour Foreshore and set in one of the city’s most iconic heritage buildings, Customs House Hotel, which boasts an intimate space for the perfect wedding

The Proposal That Bridged Time & Distance
Sophie tells us, “Our proposal was so sweet, intimate and completely us. Brett and I were doing long distance while I lived in Victoria, and he was living in NSW. We had done 3 years long distance so far by the time he proposed, Brett had come down to visit for our 4 year anniversary, and we were getting ready to go out for dinner. I had stepped out of the room to grab something and when I came back in I found Brett on one knee, and he asked me to marry him. We then went out for a private dinner, and he told me all the details before we called our families and told them the news.”

A Wedding Dress to Remember
Sophie stunned in ‘Ruby’ a Belle et Blanc gown that matched her personality—elegant and stylish. Belle et Blanc was recommended to Sophie by a family member, and she tells us about her in store experience. “It was amazing. Donna, my bridal consultant, helped me with my first fitting, and she just made sure I was comfortable and tried on lots of styles to find one I loved. Being an interstate bride I was worried I would have to travel down to Melbourne a lot which could be quite expensive, but Donna and the staff were really accommodating and helped me fit in everything I needed to in that first visit and then when I picked the dress up they made some final alterations the same day so I could take it home with me.”

A Harbour Side Newcastle Wedding
On the 27th September 2025, the couple said “I do” at the historic Customs House Hotel in sunny Newcastle, boasting views of the harbour foreshore.  Moving memories and videography were captured by Wild and Lawless, every detail was thoughtfully curated and captured. Sophie’s hair and makeup were done by the wonderful team at Ivory State Hair and Makeup.

An Intimate Wedding Day with Tears & Family
Sophie tells us about her intimate wedding day, “Our wedding day was perfect, we kept it small and had our closest friends and family. Our bridal party was just our siblings. Nothing went wrong, but I found on the day I just didn’t care and all I wanted was to dance and spend time with my husband and all our family and friends. I had my heels and veil and arm straps on for the ceremony and then for the reception they all came off so I could dance and move my arms freely, it was so nice having detachable straps that I could take on and off as I wanted. The vibes were high and tears were flowing from everyone, even my husband who isn’t a crier spent the ceremony in tears.”
