Lucienne & Jake
Lucienne and Jake tied the knot on the 17th February 2023 at the picturesque Mount Macedon, a truly magical estate which provides a unique experience surrounded by acres of space, botanical gardens grazing pastures, historic railway bridges and friendly farm and native animals.
Jake had a special proposal in mind for Lucienne, she tells us, “My husband proposed on 18th February 2022 which was our 5th anniversary. Without me knowing he bought an engagement ring when I went to see the wedding singer the Musical with my mum and sister. He asked my father for permission the morning of 18th February 2022, since he knew my parents couldn’t keep a secret.
Lucienne continues, “That day Jake took me to Lavandula Farm in Daylesford where we shared an antipasto platter and he bought me a bouquet of lavender. We celebrated our first anniversary at Lavandula and loved the place so we visited it a few times over the years. After lunch, he sat me on a park bench where he asked me to play hide and seek… we had never played this before so I started to suspect something. I closed my eyes and counted down for 60 seconds. Jake went off to hide under a Willow tree where I found him on one knee holding the ring. That was where he asked me to marry him. It was really beautiful. After the proposal, he blindfolded me to take me to the next surprise. He drove us to Hepburn Bathhouse where he booked accommodation for the night. We enjoyed the baths, then had dinner and Frankie & Connie’s Kitchen in Hepburn Springs. He made the proposal a really special weekend. We were both on cloud nine.”
Belle et Blanc bride ‘Lucienne’ came into our bridal store and picked out the stunning ‘Addsion’ wedding dress, a gorgeous fit and flare gown, with iridescent sequinned lace, Lucienne also made a custom overskirt to compliment the gown which was detachable and gave two different looks. Lucienne tells us how she came to find Belle et Blanc, and ultimately say yes to the dress, “I did a google search for many dress shops. I kid you not, I tried on over 40 dresses before I found “the one”. When I put on the dress, I could finally picture myself saying my vows to Jake in it. It was unique and beautiful. I felt beautiful, and I felt like a bride. It was a process to put on the dress, but I was assisted by my mum and bridesmaids, particularly with the overskirt. When it all came together, hair, makeup and dress it was really beautiful. It was the hottest day in Woodend, Victoria, I think it was about 35 degrees; so I was worried about feeling too hot. But with the adrenaline of the day it was fine. Over 40 dresses later, I finally felt like a bride. Like I was about to get married. I felt like myself too which was important.”
The wedding day for Lucienne and Jake was such a wonderful day, accompanied with their nearest and dearest friends and family, filled with memories they will cherish together. Lucienne tells us, “I was not nervous until I was walking up the isle. Jake looked calm and collected. It was a stressful lead up as we had both wrote our vows, myself two days before the wedding, and Jake one day before the wedding. It was a hot day! Initially we tried to book 18th February for our wedding, being an anniversary day, but the venue we loved Mount Macedon Winery was already booked. Therefore, we took Friday, 17th February 2023 so that on our 6th anniversary which fell on 18th February 2023, we would wake up together married. The wedding day was a fun and beautiful celebration. Everything came together so well. All the stressful planning leading up, did pay off. We were grateful for all of the love and support our family and friends showed us.
